    • Bio: Eagle Grove Seniors Asphyxiated in Car Two high school seniors were found dead in a car at Rose Hill Cemetery near Eagle Grove early Sunday, [March 13, 1966] the victims of carbon monoxide fumes which accidentally discharged into the car, according to Dr. Dale A. Harding, county medical examiner. He placed the time of death after midnight. Dr. Harding said a tail pipe bent upward, apparently by some earlier jolt, had allowed the exhaust fumes from the running motor to filter up through a rear panel of the 1965 model car. Dead are George Earl Salmon, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Salmon, 202 S. Lucas, Eagle Grove, and Miss Karla Joan Nessa, 17, daughter of Mrs. Irvin Nessa, 504 E. Broadway, Eagle Grove. The bodies were discovered at 9:10 a. m. Sunday by police officer Wilbur Heslop in a 1965 car registered to Mrs. Nessa. The girl had been reported missing when she failed to return home by 3 a.m. Sunday. The Salmon family had moved to Eagle Grove from Fayette during the past summer. Mr. Salmon is a salesman for Rath Feeds. The mother of Miss Nessa is employed at the junior high school cafeteria in Eagle Grove. Investigating were Wright County Sheriff Robert Blecker and Eagle Grove Police Chief Robert Koob. Funeral services for Karla Joan Nessa were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at Thor Lutheran church with the Rev. Ernest Quam officiating. Burial was in East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor, with the Sandvig Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, in charge. Born in Fort Dodge, Miss Nessa lived on a farm near Thor until her father's death five years ago, then moved into Eagle Grove. She was a member of Thor Lutheran Church and its Senior Luther League, and also belonged to the Future Nurses and Future Business Leaders of America chapters at Eagle Grove High School. She was also a Homecoming queen candidate last fall. Surviving are her mother, two brothers and four sisters, Roger of Webster City, John of Eagle Grove, Mrs. James Lempke and Mrs. Arvin Henderks of Livermore, Mrs. Carl Brattmiller of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Keith Maxon of Boone.
