    • Bio: John died Friday, September 17, 2010 in Loveland, Colorado after a lengthy illness. He was 56 years young.
John was born on October 5, 1953 in Webster, South Dakota to Lloyd N. and Mae Corrine (March) Nelson. The family moved to Loveland shortly thereafter and he was a life long resident of Loveland. John attended Big Thompson Elementary and Loveland schools, graduating in 1972.
    • John was a switchman for the Great Western Railroad, a derrick hand in the oil fields, an iron worker, a water plant operator for the City of Loveland, owner of Front Range Testers and for the last 16 years, a manager for the City of Fort Collins Backflow Program in the water department. Growing up west of Loveland, John developed a keen interest in all things outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and arrowhead hunting. Many days were spent walking around looking at the ground with his brothers, friends, or other kids.
    • John was a friend to every one he met. His house was where all the neighborhood kids would hang out with his kids.
    • John loved cars, the Broncos, cars, Indian artifacts, cars, local history, and most of all, cars. He still drove the same 1939 Plymouth Coupe he drove in high school. He would fix or repair anyones vehicle if they needed help.
    • He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents Lloyd N. and Mae Corrine, two sisters, Loralie Ann and Marilyn Rose, and two brothers Michael Lee and Jeffrey Lloyd.
    • He is survived by son Nick Nelson of Seattle, Washington, daughter Kelly Nelson of Fort Collins, sister Joan Nelson of Milliken, brother Paul Nelson and wife Frances of Loveland, nieces Loralie Wilson of Greeley, Ranae Hulse of Oak Harbor, Wash. Janette Soltis of Oak Harbor, Wash., nephews Jason Rogers of Greeley, Craig Aragon of Greeley, Ben Nelson of Greeley, Vincent Pinezich of Milliken, his best friend Bob Keeton of Loveland and his two dogs Maddie and Lucy.
    • He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
