- Bio: Morris Nather, 77, Mandan, North Dakota, formerly of Fargo, passed away surrounded by his family after a brief struggle with cancer on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the VA Medical Center, Fargo. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2018 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
- Morris Carl Nather was born on May 5, 1940 to Vincent and Louise (Langager) Nather in Dawson, ND. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School on May 22, 1958. He entered the United States Marine Corps in 1960, where he served for six years. In 1964, he completed Marine Security Guard training and was assigned to the Paris Embassy.
- After leaving the military, he worked at various jobs in Seattle, WA and San Diego, CA before returning to Fargo in 1972 to work as an auto mechanic. He was employed by Goodyear in downtown Fargo from 1974 to 1989.
- Upon retirement, he moved to Bismarck where he was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church, eventually serving as the Council President. Morris was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He loved music, sweets, Bible study, and spending time with his family and friends from church. He took great pride in having served his country and his congregation and in the accomplishments of his grandchildren, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
- He is survived by his daughters: Mary Jane (Mark) Shroyer and Sarah Jacobs; two grandchildren; three siblings: Mabel (Ronald) Sacrison, Sharon (Larry) Goerger, and Gary (Sue) Nather; and seven nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.
- Morris was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Louise Nather and his nephew Jason Goerger.
