- Bio: Andrew Munson (Swedish name Anders Månson) was born in 1871 in Sweden. He was the son of Berta Anderson (born about 1846 in Sweden) and Måns Erikson. Andrew had at least one sibling, a sister named Mathilda “Tillie” Munson who was born in 1880 in Sweden and lived most of her adult life in Montana. Some time before 1891, Andrew emmigrated from Sweden to the United States and became a naturalized U.S. citizen on September 29, 1891 in Kings County, New York. Andrew eventually moved west from New York to Montana, settling in Great Falls, Montana. On October 8, 1901, Andrew married his first wife Mary Mary O Remneas (1882-1908) at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Great Falls, Montana. Andrew and Mary had three children together: Albin Ray Munson (1902-1989); Pearl Esther Munson (1904-1992); and Archie Howard Munson (1906-1967). His wife Mary died at the young age of 26 from diabetes. On January 19, 1910 Andrew married his second wife Mary Alvina Hanson (1884-1968) in Great Falls, Montana. On November 28, 1932 Andrew was given a land grant for 160 acres located in modern day Fairfield, Montana. Andrew continued to reside in Montana until his death on May 1, 1936. Andrew was buried at the Highland Cemetery in Great Falls, Montana.
