Larry Dean Millis, 72 of Newport, OR, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away June 8, 2010 at his home. He was born in Sioux Falls to Clark and Eleanor Eliason Millis on January 20, 1938. He graduated from Washington High in 1955 and Augustana College with a B.S.B.A. in 1961.
- He married Karen Schank, which lasted 20 years. He worked for Exxon and retired in 1981 when he became a general contractor until 2009. Each spring, he took a fishing boat to Alaska with his lifelong friend, Sheldon Songstad and was featured in a documentary, Fishing the West.
- For nine years, he has been in a loving relationship with Sue Butson of Newport, OR.
- He is survived by one sister, Lainys (Henry) Brother of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Nancy (Scott) MacHaffie, Jill (Bryon) McNatt and one son, Jeffery (Kathy) Millis; five grandsons, Michael, Christopher, Andrew & Owen (twins), and Bryce; one granddaughter, Abigail all of Tigard, OR..
- George Boom Funeral Home is making final arrangements. Family and friends are invited for a graveside service at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls on June 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
