- Jinny Mendenhall Nicholson, 64, was granted her angel wings on October 19, 2011. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some small way throughout her very memorable life.
- Jinny was born May 23, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur Lovell Mendenhall and Delpha Cahoon. The youngest of six children. Jinny fought a short but dignified battle with cancer.
- Jinny married Dale Nicholson on July 28, 1977, who together raised four loving children and shared their lives with two remarkable grandchildren, Peter and Kail.
- Jinny worked as a phlebotomist for Primary Children's hospital for ten years then moved onto the Children's Diabetic Clinic, Jinny loved being with children and was perfect for the job. After retiring Jinny opened The School of Phlebotomy so she could teach others the job she loved.
- Jinny was very artistic, and enjoyed the arts to the fullest going to the ballet, theatre, as well as painting and creating unique gifts. Jinny also created over twenty scrapbooks that will now be enjoyed by her family and friends.
- Jinny loved sunsets, bright and colourful flowers, and watching her grandsons play basketball. Jinny had a kind sole and a happy heart that will be missed beyond words.
- The family would like to thank the kindness that the entire neighbourhood has shown and also to Lighthouse Hospice for making a difficult situation so much easier, with a special thanks to Kim Thueson.
- Jinny is survived by husband Dale Nicholson, children Kirk C. Nicholson (Vivian), Angie Bowthrope, Kimber Nicholson Barrus (Scot), and Tyson Hatcher, and grandchildren Peter and Kail Barrus. Siblings Dwain Mendenhall (Stephanie), Marilyn Fernelius (Ronald), and Stanley Mendenhall. Jinny is preceded in death by her parents, brother Boyd Mendenhall, and sister Kathy Brown (Dick).
- Family and friends may call Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville Valley Park Ward Chapel, 5233 South 3200 West, Taylorsville, Utah, with a viewing prior to the services at 10:00 a.m.
She will be laid to rest at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary following the funeral services.
