- Allan 79, passed away of natural causes on April 28, 2006 at his home in Elk Grove, CA surrounded by loving family members.
- He is survived by wife, Rosa; and children, Ana Maria (Barry) Bennett of Orem, UT, Yvonne (Dewaine Phillips) Andersen of Elk Grove, CA, Victor (Joanne Terhaar) Andersen of Belmont, CA, and Vincent (Andrea) Andersen of Redwood City, CA. Other family members include grandchildren, Stefhan, Shannon, Melissa, Alanna, Michelle, Jenna, Spencer and William; great grandchildren, Sierra, Angelina, Elise and brand new unnamed baby girl Bennett; and nieces and nephews, Liza and Joanne of California, Donica of Tucson, Mario, Rodolfo, Ana Cecilia, Victor Eduardo, Silvia, and Laura of Costa Rica.
- Allan was born in Chicago, moved to San Francisco at age of 12, lived in San Carlos for most of his life, and retired to Elk Grove in 1998.
- Allan enlisted and served in WWII as a U.S. Merchant Marine and stayed in the service into the 1950's.
- He met wife, Rosa, (of Costa Rica) in the early 1950's while in the Merchant Marines.
- Allan earned an engineering degree in the late 1950's and worked most of his career (29 years) as a facilities engineer for Varian Associates in Palo Alto, CA.
- As a product of the Depression Era, the early death of his father, his military service and engineering background, the words self-sufficient, resourceful, inventive, and meticulous best describe Allan Andersen. He could always be found renovating an old piece of furniture, repairing an automobile, or adding on to the home. He even built a recreational vehicle from a UPS truck that he used to take the family on vacations to Mexico City, Grand Canyon, etc.
- These characteristics of resourcefulness and can-do have been passed on to his children.
