- Bio: Jim attended elementary school at District 54 in Boone County, and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1965. For a short period of time after high school, Jim worked for a farmer near Colon, NE.
In 1968, Jim began working for Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus, NE. He worked in various departments but spent the majority of his career there in the maintenance department. He often jokingly boasted about being able to fix everything but a broken heart.
Jim was united in marriage to Anna Marie Travers on August 23, 1969, in Fullerton, NE. Following their wedding, the couple lived in the St. Edward area. In addition to working at Behlen Manufacturing, Jim enjoyed working on the family farm with his parents and doing custom farm work. He always said he had to work at Behlens in order to support his farming habit.
Jim enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards with The Twilight Twelve and spending time with his friends and family — especially his grandchildren. He was a former member of the Behlen Fire Brigade and was a Behlen EMT. Jim was a proud member of Behlen Retiree 40-year club.
On May 7, 1989, Jim was baptized and also became a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Edward.
