- SERVICES MONDAY
MRS. HAROLD ENGEN
- Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23rd at the Eyler Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Harold Engen with Reverend Calvin Milan officiating. Organ Music was furnished by Mrs. Milan.
Pallbearers were C. M. Reidy, Loyd Robinson, Ralph Morris, Dale Dougherty, Truman Keifer of Clarion and Daryl Watts of Eagle Grove.
Burial was in the Clarion Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Alma Henrietta Engen, daughter of Elias and Ellen Marcus was born February 2, 1905 in Wright County, near Belmond, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 1967, at the Clarion Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She attended school in Norway Township and on October 9, 1922 was married to Harold B. Engen. They were the parents of four children, Duane of Cincinnati, Ohio, Harold Jr. of Iowa City, Iowa, Audrey of Clarion and Richard of Independence, Iowa. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Deborah, Vanessa and Tracy Engen of Cincinnati, Carol and Steven Engen of Iowa City and Sally Jo Engen of Independence. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Selma Highland of Miami, Florida, Ruth Nessa of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Evelyn Marcus of Clarion and Orville Marcus of St. John, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents and three brothers, George, Phillip and Elmer.
She has been a resident of Clarion for many years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the V.F.W.
Those attending the funeral services from out of town were from Des Moines, Polk City, Fort Dodge, Eagle Grove, Lake Mills, LaPorte City, Bricelyn, Minn., Frost, Minn., and Blue Earth, Minn.
- CARD OF THANKS
We want to express our appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown us during our recent bereavement. We especially want to thank the many people who remembered mother with cards, flowers and gifts during her long illness and the many people who helped make her last days more comfortable. We also want to thank the V.F.W. Auxiliary for the dinner and lunch served to the family and friends.
