- Bio: Gerhard Lovas, 82, Fargo, died Friday, April 29, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Mr. Lovas, known as Gay, was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Hillsboro, N.D., where he grew up and graduated from high school. He attended Reisch School of Auctioneering. He moved to Mayville, N.D., where he worked as an auctioneer and cattle buyer for Harrington Brothers' Livestock. On June 30, 1951, he married Lois E. Harrington in Mayville. They lived in Mayville until 1989, when they moved to Fargo.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dan (Cindy), Grand Forks, N.D., Steve (Cheri), Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Cathy (Keith) Peltier, Harvey, N.D., Amy (Scott) Anderson, Moorhead; two sisters, Alyce Putz, Salem, Ore., Ruth (Paul) Bennett, St. Johns, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation: Tonight from 5 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Funeral: Monday at 10:30 in the church.
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, Minn.
