  • Noteringar
    • Bio: Ruby Lonning “ Flu” Victim at Des Moines.
    • Miss Ruby Lonning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Lonning of Thor, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines from Spanish Influenza.
    • She was born January 7, 1902, and has lived in the vicinity all her life with the exception of a few years which were spent with her parents at Hillsdale, Wyoming.
    • Several months ago she went to Des Moines to take a business course at the C. C. C. C., making her home with her aunt there. Friday morning she was taken with a severe headache which developed into Influenza and in the evening was taken to the hospital where she had the best of care, but a sudden change came for the worse and pneumonia set in. The parents were notified but she had passed away before their arrival, Tuesday afternoon.
    • The deceased was a promising young girl of a very quiet, beautiful disposition, of whom none knew, but to praise and love.
    • The remains were brought from Des Moines by her mother and aunt, Mrs. C. E. Lenning, Wednesday noon. Funeral services were conducted on the lawn Friday afternoon by Rev. Kjorlong.
    • She leaves besides her parents, six sisters and two brothers at home, one sister, Mrs. Andrew Nelson of New Richland, Minnesota, and one brother at Joliet Montana and two brothers, Edwin and Albert in service somewhere in France.
    • The Lonning family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement, so lately followed by the sad message of the death of their son and brother, Bert, age 22, who was killed in the battle of Soissons, July 21, 1918. Bert landed in France Christmas day, 1917, and was first wounded in action May 8th and after a couple of months in the hospital was returned to the front with his company, after which the news of his death was received.
