- Bio: Memorial gathering will be held Saturday, September 26th from 1 until 4 p.m., at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall in Estherville, ALL are Welcome.Janice Elna (Lilland, Burt) Weir was born January 11, 1923 in Maple Hill, Iowa. She died on Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Rosewood manor in Estherville, Iowa. She was 92 years of age.Janice was the daughter of Ole and Selma (Quam) Lilland, and sister of Harvey, Lorrene (Gellings), Sylvia (Sunde), tenner, and Wanda (Cich). Janice and her siblings were raised on a farm north of Estherville throughout the years of the great depression. Janice received her education at Emmet Consolidated Schools, where she played on the girls basketball team. After high school completion, she won second place in a Miss Iowa competition.On November 27, 1969 she was united in marriage with Elmer Weir. the couple made their home in Estherville, Kansas City, and Gruver. Janice worked at the Emmet county Engineer's office for six years. Previously she had worked in the Typewriter Exchange office supply business in Estherville.Janice enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Left to cherish Janice's memory are her husband Elmer of Estherville; her sons, Roger Burt and His wife Jeannie of Portland, Oregon, and Brad Nelson of the Grand Cayman Islands; two grandsons, Ben Keckeisen of Burnsville, Minnesota and Alex Weir of New York, New York; stepson Greg Weir and his wife Sue of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and stepdaughter Elaine (Weir) Lewin and her husband Len of Folsom, California.Janice had been preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Burt; daughter, Barb Nelson( Mrs. Kent Keckeisen); parents Ole and Selma; sister Wanda, Sylvia, and Lorrene,and brothers Harvey and Tenner.
