- Bio: Son of Lars & Margarite Sandve Leckness
- James Luverne Leckness, 74, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 12, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
- He was born January 14, 1936 in Ellsworth, son of Lars and Margarite Sandve Leckness. He married Arlene Praska on November 25, 1953 in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Janet Mikelson on January 7, 1977 in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Emily Snyder on July 5, 1984 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death.
- Mr. Leckness was employed at Rath Packing Company for 29 years, then worked at the turkey plant in Ellsworth and IBP in Waterloo. He retired from Tyson in 1999.
- Survived by one son, James A. (Gloria) of Waterloo; three daughters, Lorraine (Monte) Crane of Cedar Falls, Cynthia (Michael) Crane of Evansdale, and Lavon (Buster) Rounds of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Maxine (Jack) Bean of California, Darlene (Larry) Crum of Council Bluffs, Carolyn (Junior) Kern of State Center, Diane Foster of Texas, and Rosemary (Gordon) Heetland of Ackley; and his former wife, Arlene Praska.
- Preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd; one sister, JoAnne Geerdes; his former wife, Janet; one son, Ricky; and his dog, Tiffy.
- Services 10:30 a.m. Tuseday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
