Larson, 87, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 23 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Bibb, Pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with military graveside rites presented by the VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.Don is survived by his brother, Glenn Larson of Astoria, OR; and his special friend, Minnie Whitlock. He was preceded in death by is parents, Oliver and Isabelle (Ponsness) Larson; and 2 sisters, Esther Larson and Alice (Ramona) Larson.Donald Eugene Larson was born August 10, 1922 in Badger and attended schools in Fort Dodge. Following his education he served with the U.S. Navy mainly aboard the USS Idaho in the South Pacific during WWII. After his honorable discharge he made his home in Otho. Don worked in the construction business his entire life and was a volunteer fireman for the City of Otho. He was a member of the VFW where he served as Chaplain for 1 year, member of the Central Neighborhood Betterment Group for 15 years, serving as Vice President for 5 years, he received 2 Governors Leadership Awards, one in 1994 and again in 1996, was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and the Otho and Fort Dodge Saddle Clubs.
