    • Bio: James “Jim” LeRoy Klix Jr., 57, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at his home in Hot Springs, SD.
    • Jim was born September 27, 1960, in Watertown, SD, to James LeRoy and Marilyn Ann “Mickey” (Johnson) Klix. He graduated from Henry High School in Henry, SD, and attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1978 until his honorable discharge in 1984. Jim was stationed in Jacksonville, FL, and Guantanamo Bay. After the Navy, he returned to Aberdeen and managed “Pizza Patrol”. He then learned carpet and flooring installation and worked in that industry for many years in Watertown, Sterling, CO, and Denver, CO. He moved to Hot Springs in 2006, and started working for Black Hills VA Health Care System until his death.
    • Jim loved working at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home, then continuing his career at the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. He cherished and respected the people he worked with. Jim was thoughtful and caring about the patients that he came in contact with every day. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #71 in Hot Springs. As a veteran himself, he had a lot of respect for his country.
    • He loved the people he worked with and the Hot Springs area. He really loved working at the VA Hospital. He loved playing his guitar and being around his friends. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved camping. He enjoyed tending his garden, grilling, and the outdoors in general.
    • Jim was a warm hearted, sensitive, loving person, enriching the lives and hearts that he touched. Jim had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh, especially at the expense of his sister, Nancy. He was proud of his accomplishments, buying a home, long term employment, lifelong friends, and living in South Dakota. Jim never wanted to vacation anywhere else. If you were to ask him “why”, he would always say that he “was from South Dakota”. He was a die-hard Vikings fan. Jim loved animals in general but especially his dog, Jake. Jim would help anyone with anything that they needed, whatever he could do to help. Everywhere he went, no matter where, he would make friends. He was not a judgmental person and was friendly, caring, outgoing and always had a smile on his face.
    • Jim is survived by his fiancé, Tracy Killmer of Hot Springs; sisters, Vicki (Dave) Tennant of Sterling, CO, and Nancy Klix of Aurora, CO; aunts, Delores Hartley and Sharyl (Fred) Sauer all of Watertown; nieces, Nicole Tennant and Heather Herman all of Denver, Tara Tennant of Sterling, CO; nephews, David E. Tennant and Justin (Jennifer) Tennant all of Sterling; numerous cousins, 3 great-nieces, and 3 great-nephews; as well as his beloved companion “Jake”
    • Jim was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother,Jan; grandparents, Emmett and Bernice “Dolly” Johnson, Roy Klix and Leona Klix Hogie; uncles, Dayle Johnson, Richard “Buddy” Johnson, and Harold Hartley.
    • A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the American Legion Post #71, in Hot Springs. Inurnment will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
