    • Bio: Stephen John Kidder, 56, formerly of Anacortes and current resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, due to complications from a brain tumor and stroke.
    • He was surrounded by his loving family.
    • Steve was born on July 17, 1952 in Anacortes, the son of Gordon and LaVone (Huseby) Kidder. He attended schools in Anacortes and graduated from Anacortes High School in 1971.
    • In 1973 he married Jen Dunton and they had two children, Ryan and Clinton. Steve's love for fishing found him commercial fishing/crabbing in Alaskan waters, continuing on to receive his captain's license, and becoming the owner/operator of "Highliner Fishing Charters" based out of Anacortes for over 35 years.
    • Steve was also employed as a Water Treatment Plant operator and meter reader for the City of Anacortes, a deckhand with the Skagit County Guemes Ferry and Dunlap Towing, and a maintenance worker with Anacortes High School and Mount Baker Middle School in Mount Vernon, retiring in 2007.
    • Steve loved to travel, visiting Europe three times, Mexico, and Costa Rica. His most memorable trip was in 2003, to Malawi, Africa, with his missionary friends, Reverend Magnus E. Udd and his wife, Hazel. Steve also loved to take road trips with his family and dogs, whether they be long or short, traveling and camping in the United States and Canada.
    • Steve enjoyed listening to and collecting music and attending concerts. His collection included over 300 original albums, CDs, and iPod downloads, mostly rock & roll and blues.
    • On June 3, 2006, Steve married Rosemarie Potts in Anacortes and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. The couple continued to share his love for the outdoors, traveling, camping, fishing, and hiking. They attended Christ the King Church in Mount Vernon, where they shared the love of the Lord together.
    • Steve loved his children and was excited about becoming a grandfather in December. He was very proud of his Indian heritage and in 2004, he and his uncle Jack, organized a celebration of the Kidder family being on Fidalgo Island for 100 years.
    • He was truly loved and will be missed greatly by his family!
