- Bio: The memorial service for Eileen "Harriet" Hanson will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN with Pastor Terrill Bramstedt officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 305 NW 1st St. Elgin, MN, and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Hanson, 80, of Plainview, MN died Saturday morning, June 29, 2013 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
- Eileen Harriet Johnson was born November 7, 1932 in Newman Grove, Nebraska to Henry and Elenora (Simonson) Johnson. She attended school in Newman Grove and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1950. She went on to attend Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated in 1953 with a RN Degree. On December 26, 1954 she married James A. Hanson at Shellcreek Lutheran Church in Newman Grove.
- Harriet started her nursing career at Deaconess in Minneapolis, and then worked in San Angelo, TX; Moses Lake, Washington; Stephenville, Newfoundland; and then back to Deaconess. When they moved to Elgin she worked for 10 years at the Elgin Nursing Home, when the nursing home closed she went to work in Plainview at Hillcrest Nursing Home (now called St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie). Harriet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin. She enjoyed spending time sewing, quilting and embroidery.
- Harriet is survived by her husband, James Hanson of Elgin, MN; three daughters, Linda Culp of Rochester, Karen (Jon) Sande of Duluth, Nancy (Jerry) Erdmann of Dodge Center; and one son, Ed (Becky) Hanson of Savage, MN; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce (Harry) Hillegas of Coon Rapids, and Jean (Dean) Jenson of Norfolk, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, LaVonne Nygren and Clarine Eastburg.
