- Bertina was born to Norwegian immigrants, and raised in SE Minnesota. Her obituary cites she was the 4th child born to Tolakk and Anna Aarsvold. She had 4 sisters and 6 brothers.
- She married Rev. Thomas G. Sandeno at Winona, MN who at the time was still at the Red Wing (MN) seminary; and they had six sons.
- Rev. Sandeno pastored several Norwegian Lutheran churches, including South Zumbro close to Rochester and Kasson, MN. He baptized my mother and her sister and officiated as pastor at my grandparents' wedding.
- Bertina had a beautiful singing voice and sang for many church events, often solo. She had a friendly personality and made friends easily. She enjoyed being a pastor's wife, and parenting her six sons.
- Bertina contracted TB in 1929, and lost her life to the disease when her youngest, Morris was just 8 years old. Her twin sons died shortly thereafter, also of TB. The four surviving sons all attained good educations and occupations and survived her, as did her husband. One source said her sister, Mrs. Matt Johnson survives her.The obituary posted is courtesy of Pete Bennett, whose wife was Bertina's granddaughter.
