- Bio: Mrs. Dorothy J. RosseboNovember 29, 1920 - January 25, 2011Dorothy Jansen Rossebo 90, of Indianapolis, died on January 25, 2011 at Methodist Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis to Helen and Charles Jansen. She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Jansen and survived by her sister, Helen Burnett, as well as her two children, Susan Gardiner and Christian Rossebo. Dorothy was widowed from her marriage to Lloyd Rossebo in 1995, having been married for 48 years. She was a graduate of Indiana University and volunteered in the Red Cross before working as an interior designer, an educator, and a realtor. Dorothy was a staunch supporter of the Red Cross, the Pi Beta Phi Sorority (where she was a Golden Arrow), the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Eiteljorg Museum, the Indianapolis Opera, and the John Herron School of Art. She was well known to Meridian Kessler residents through her frequent appearances in the neighborhood, her endless charm and gracious conversation. She will be dearly missed by her family, especially her four grandchildren Dylan Gardiner, Olivia Feiro, Lily Rossebo and Alex Rossebo. A celebration of her life will be held at the Peace Chapel at Crown Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 1. Calling will be at 2:00 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arts Council of Indianapolis, 924 N. Pennsylvania, Indianapolis 46204. Dorothy will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in a place she selected, next to her husband Lloyd, with the inscription that she chose: "She did the best that she could."
