- Bio: NEW BEDFORD, MA — Oliva (Jacobsen) Frostad, 88, of Dartmouth died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.She was the wife of the late Ingvald Frostad.Born on Karmoy, Norway the daughter of the late Thomas and Laurense (Jakobsen) Jacobsen, she came to the United States in February of 1934 and lived at her residence in Dartmouth since 1951.Mrs. Frostad was a homemaker and her family was her life. She was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Frostad loved to work with her hands and enjoyed crocheting. She was very involved with the Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir for many years.Survivors include a son, Bernard Frostad of N. Stonington, CT; two daughters, Ingrid Frostad Gary and Loretta Maranhas and her husband Joseph all of Dartmouth; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Ellen Tjersland, Sigrid Ellingsen, and Jacob Jacobsen.Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 9 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
