- Bio: Perry J. Jacobson, age 91, of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial at Mizpah Cemetery in Plankinton at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.
- Perry J. Jacobson, son of Peter and Grace Jacobson, was born September 15, 1919 in Plankinton, SD. He grew up on the family farm NE of Plankinton and attended the Hopper Country School. After Perry graduated from Hopper High School in 1938 he then entered the US Air Corp on September 21, 1942. He served in the South Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged on December 20, 1945. Perry returned to the family farm after his discharge.
- He was united in marriage with Bessie Plooster on February 21, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, SD. The couple made their home on the farm and continued to farm in the Palatine Township near Plankinton for 54 years. Perry retired and the couple made their home in Plankinton for a short time before moving to Mitchell. They wintered in Arizona for 17 years along with his two sisters.
- Perry was then united in marriage with Bonnie Dikoff on June 23, 2007 in Mitchell, SD. The couple continued to make their home in Mitchell. Perry attended the Honor Flight Memorial in Washington DC on October 23, 2010.
- He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Horseless Carriage Car Club, the Elks Lodge, and the Turtle Club. He enjoyed restoring antique cars.
- Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bonnie Dikoff, Mitchell, SD; three step children, Rodney (Linda) Dikoff, Onaka, SD, Terry (Gina) Dikoff, Spearfish, SD, Todd (Tina) Dikoff, Mitchell, SD; eigth step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; a sister, Dorris Pace, Elk Point, SD.
- He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bessie Jacobson on September 18, 2002; four brothers, Raymond, Nelson, Arthur, and LeOtis; one sister, Pauline Rubendall.
