"obituary of Mrs. John L. Christian
Lucille June Christian, daughter of Ole and Victorial Jacobson, was born in Hardin County, Iowa, on May 9, 1917, and passed away at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames on Nov. 28, 1959 at the age of 42 years, 6 months and 19 days.
- Mrs. Christian was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church in Hardin County. She graduated from the Roland High School. She was active in church and community affairs. Since 1939, she has been a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and was a faithful member of the church and Ladies Aid.
- She was married to John L. Christian on Jan. 23, 1939. To this union were born four children, Jerry, Barbara, Roger and John Bruce.
- Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by her mother; one son, John Bruce; one sister, and one brother. Surviving are her husband, John; two sons, Jerry and Roger; one daughter, Barbara; her father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Ole M. Jacobsons; four sisters, Violet (Mrs. Richard Morgan of Roland), Maxine (Mrs. Al Hughes of New Orleans, La.), Gertrude (Mrs. Chester Ryan of Nevada), and Opal (Mrs. Marvin Tjernagel of Roland); one stepsister, Mrs. Reuben Erickson of roland; one step-brother, Lester Ose of Eldora; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
- The funeral service was held at Salem Lutheran church on Wednesday, Dec. 2, with Pastor Everett Nelson officiating. The Salem Choir sang two songs, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Will Take Car of You", Mrs. Friest and Mrs. James Knutson sang "My God and I". Pastor Olaf Holen brought a greeting.
- Interment was in the Roland cemetery. Pallbearers were Orlin Holland, Wayne Morgan, Eugene Christian, Cyrus Christian, Elmer Swenson, and Ralph Johnson.
- A service was also held at the Christian home on Tuesday evening Dec. 1. Words of comfort were spoken by Pastor Everett Nelson and Pastor Olaf Holen. Mrs. Loren Twedt sang "Sometime We'll Understand", and Mrs. Robert Friest and Mrs. Jame Knutson sang "Beyond the Sunset"."
