- Bio: Rozelle Maxine Howell Kleveland, daughter of Jacob R. and Maude A. Simpson Howell, was born on Feb. 16, 1920 at Chester, Nebr., and passed away on August 10, 1978 at her home in Chester at the age of 58 years, five months and 25 days.
- Rozelle received her education at the Chester Public Schools and was united in marriage to Ervin H. Kleveland on August 5, 1939, and to this union six children were born, Barbara, Charles, Charlotte, Steven, James and Ramona.
- She was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, called Meme by her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Chester.
- She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob R. Howell, two sisters and one brother.
- She is survived by her husband, Ervin H. Kleveland of the home; six children, three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Don (Barbara) Kasl of Chester, Charles Kleveland of Chester, Mrs. Tony (Charlotte) Gonzales of Colorado Springs, Co., Steven Kleveland of Hastings, James Kleveland of Nebraska City and Mrs. Max (Ramona) Mumford of York; four brothers, George Howell of Belvidere, Ill., Eldon Howell of Lincoln, Delmar Howell of Wichita, Ks., Dale Howell of Yamhill, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Garland (Winifred) Thompson of Belleville, Ks.; 18 grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
- Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Chester, conducted by Lon Hardy. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell, accompanied by Mrs. Frieda Truss. Casket bearers were Harold Crouse, T.E. Boyer, Don Minnig, Wilbur Mussmann, Harley Howell, Gary Gunn. Honorary casket bearers were Geo. A. Russell, Leslie Hartley, Samuel L. Simmons, William Mumford, Glen Day, Casper Schlife. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart was in charge of arrangements.
