- LaVone Irene Kidder, 85, of Anacortes, WA died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at her adult family home on Guemes Island.
- She was born on February 8, 1932 in Newman Grove, Nebraska, the daughter of Oscar and Sarah (Johnson) Huseby.
- LaVone attended grade school in Newman Grove and at the age of 13 moved with her family to Mount Vernon, WA in 1945.
- She attended Mount Vernon grade schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1949. During high school LaVone worked at the Lincoln, Lyric, and Mission Theaters in Mount Vernon as an usher.
- On January 28, 1950 she married Gordon Kidder of Anacortes at the old St. Mary Catholic Church on 7th Street and they had three children, Scott, Stephen, and Marcella "Marcy".
- LaVone was employed as a food processor at vegetable/fruit canneries in Burlington and Mount Vernon and at fish canneries in Anacortes, including Pan Alaska and Whitney Fidalgo Seafood's. After their retirement they enjoyed traveling across the United States.
- LaVone thoroughly enjoyed her membership at the Fidalgo Pool where she was able to meet new friends and visit and also, walking or biking the Loop Road at Washington Park, the Tommy Thompson Trail, local marinas and lower Cap Sante, along with the dike trails. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes.
- While the kids were growing up, the family enjoyed camping at Lake Goodwin in the E.J. Kidder insulation truck every summer and later taking their grandchildren on road trips. LaVone and Gordie cherished their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending all their sports games, even traveling great distances across the U.S. to see them play. She was proud of her family and they meant the world to her.
- LaVone will be remembered as a loving, kind, and compassionate person to people and animals alike. She will be forever loved and missed!
- LaVone was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Sarah; parents-in-law, E.J. and Ann Kidder; son, Stephen in 2008; husband, Gordon in 2010; brothers and sister-in-law, Marcillius "Marcy" Huseby and DeWane and Peggy Huseby; sisters and brothers-in law, Olein Larson, Evelyn and Marvin Barton, Jim Rolfson, and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Celeste Kidder, and Michael Kidder.
- She is survived by her son and daughters-in-law, Scott and Paula Kidder of Anacortes, Rose Marie Kidder of Sedro-Woolley; daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Louis Olsen of Anacortes; grandchildren and spouses, Shannah and Tyler Swinburnson, Amanda Olsen, Danielle McCulley, Ryan and Mallory Kidder, and Clinton and Ana Kidder; great-grandchildren, Jessie and Cooper Swinburnson, and Luke and Ella Kidder; brother and sisters- in-law; Orvalle "Mac" and Mabel Huseby, Marge Huseby; and JaDene Rolfson; sister-in law and brother-in-law, Susan and Mike Goad, many nieces and nephews; and her loving caregivers, Larry and Sharon Richmond of Heavenly Care Adult Family Home on Guemes Island.
- Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our mother she loved you so!! The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Evans Funeral Chapel.
- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes with Father Mel Strazicich officiating. A reception will follow Mass at the Father Auer Center.
- A Private family urn committal will be held at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes.
- Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
