- Bio: JoAnn (O’Brion) Hilstad, 81, of Fort Dodge, died peacefully surrounded by her 3 children, on January 21, 2020 at Journey’s of Friendship Haven.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in St. Olaf Cemetery.JoAnn Kay Hovick, the daughter of Tilford and Amy Josephine (Resdahl) Hovick, was born February 21, 1938. She grew up on a farm near Badger, attended Badger School, Fort Dodge Junior High and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. She graduated from Fort Dodge Beauty Academy. JoAnn was married to Chuck O’Brion at Badger Lutheran Church in 1956. She was a stay at home mother, taking care of her 3 children. Her husband Chuck died in 1982. JoAnn married Charles Hilstad in 1985. The couple lived in Owatonna, MN until his death in 2003.JoAnn was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. A highlight in her life were trips to Norway and researching family history.Survivors include her children; Dan (Martha) O’Brion, Joe (Barb) O’Brion and Amy (Jeff) Crouse, all of Fort Dodge, her step-children; Jon Hilstad of Owatonna, MN, Lisa (Mark) Feese of Hopkins, MN and Chad Hilstad of Chicago; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, her sister LaVonne Nelson of Fort Dodge and sisters-in-law Shirley Hovick and Carolyn Hovick.She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Chuck O’Brion, second husband Charles Hilstad, step-daughter Lori Hilstad, step-daughter-in-law Lisa Hilstad, her siblings CJ Hovick, Allmon Hovick, Arlo Hovick, and Joyce Johansen.Memorials may be left to discretion of the family.
