- Age 90, of Mpls., died peacefully at home on November 8, 2015. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Pauline Hovick, sisters Mildred Monge and Signe Christeson, husbands Warren Thompson and Richard Lohman, and sons Jeffrey and Charles.
A lover of lutefisk, lefse, and all things Norwegian, she was an inspiring, resilient, and joyful woman. Her loss will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and caregivers. Born October 9, 1925 in Madison, MN, raised in Northfield, MN. Attended St. Olaf College, graduated from Fairview School of Nursing, where she went on to become an instructor. Married Rev. Warren Thompson in 1950, was widowed in 1951 while pregnant with their first child. Remarried in 1953 to Rev. Richard Lohman, a widower with three children, and was married 50 years. She turned her experiences with loss into a meaningful ministry as a grief counselor, serving as coordinator of the Bloomington-Richfield Grief Coalition. She fostered a deep love for music in her children, and served as choir director at Bethany Lutheran, Mpls. and First Lutheran, Butterfield, MN.
