- Bio: Beatrice Lucille "Bea" Larson, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society. Bea was born April 19, 1926 in Maryville, Missouri the daughter of Owen and Ola (Gray) Holt. The family moved to Villisca, Iowa in 1930 and Bea graduated from Villisca High School in 1945. She worked for S & N Oil Station, then Moore Drug Store during her four years of high school. After graduation she worked for Dr. Sidwell and Farmers Telephone Company. Bea was united in marriage to Gerald "Mike" Larson on June 16, 1946 in Villisca, Iowa. They lived in Villisca until 1966 when they moved to Red Oak, Iowa. Bea worked for Union Carbide as a receptionist from 1959 to 1963, JC Penney for several years, and as a cook for Red Oak High School where she retired. Bea was an excellent cook, enjoyed camping and traveling, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.
- Preceding her in death were her parents; infant brother: Edwin; and brother: Verlin Holt. Survivors include her husband: Gerald "Mike" Larson of Red Oak; son: Richard Larson of Avinger, TX; daughter: Sandy Bierbaum and husband Larry of Essex, IA; grandchildren: Missy Bierbaum of Red Oak and Mike Bierbaum and wife Kris of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Braden Sands, Bridgett Sands, Brandi Sands, and Emma Bierbaum all of Red Oak; many nieces and nephews including a special niece: Betty Ward of Villisca, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
- A brief memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with a visitation to follow until 8 PM. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in the Arlington Cemetery near Villisca, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Hospice.
