  Bio: Langford, SD: The memorial service for Juel Hoines will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Falnes Lutheran Church of rural Langford. Rev. Charlie Bunk will officiate. Inurnment of his cremains will be in the church cemetery.Juel passed away at his Langford home just a little more than a week before his 72nd birthday.Price Funeral Chapel of Britton has been entrusted with his arrangements.Juel Gary Eugene Hoines was born July 29, 1939 at Britton, SD to Edwin Sigurd and Myrtle Alice (Nickelson) Hoines. As a youngster, he grew up on the family farm two miles east of Langford. He attended school in Langford. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Langford.After receiving his education, Juel worked for a short time on the family farm. He later took jobs in California and Minneapolis.On July 31, 1971, Juel married Caroline Swenson, and he became a member of the Falnes Lutheran Church. They made their home in Langford. Prior to their marriage, Juel had started learning the skill of truck driving from Jim Boone of Britton. Juel eventually became a truck driver himself, and did many cross country and long distance hauls in his lifetime. He truly loved being on the open road, and he continued driving truck until retiring in the 1990's. After retiring, Juel made his home primarily in Langford.Juel enjoyed fishing and listening to music on the radio. He was an animal lover, and especially fond of his cats. One of his favorite pastimes was attending auction sales. He also loved angel food cake and homemade ice cream.Grateful for having shared his life are his two sisters: Diane Hoines of Langford; Debra Hoines of Sioux Falls; an aunt, Margaret Conrad of Milwaukie, OR; and a large number of cousins and their families.Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother.An online guestbook and obituary are available at www.pricefuneralchapel.net.
