- Eric skriver följande brev till Olive och Chester
February 15, 1973
- Dear Olive and Chester:
Just a short note to let you know we are all doing o.k. altho Meta did fall down on the ice in the drive way about two weeks ago and broke her right wrist and is in a cast but she is doing well but she can’t write too well with her left hand. The girls are all doing fine and busy working. Janet just had her 22nd birthday on Monday, Doris was 20 on Jan 27 and Karen will be 27 in Marsh and she and grandson David are getting along in their nice home in the woods 13 miles north of Anoka. David is sure growing fast and we have so much fun with him. Grandma is always buying something for him so you can see who the star attraction is in the family.
The old man is still working at the Post Office nites and going on the 31st year for retirement as my time counts for pension. I have been cross country skiing twice this winter but have not had too much snow – altho we had almost 5 inches the other day.
Cecile was down here one week end before Xmas and went thru some of Aunt Elise’ papers she had and ran across some interesting things she had saved “
- “P.S. Clarence Gladen died about a month after he was poll bearer for Aunt Elise. Also saw and talked to Ole Krovik at funeral – wants me to come and see him. “
- “and also her will. She had clippings about Laporte in the old days and did you know that she wrote a letter every year about Grandma Hinderager from 1926 in Oct. when grandma died till about 10 years ago or so and telling how much grandmas meant to her and how she wished she could be as kind and loving as Grandma Hinderager. – it was heart breaking to read these letters. Am enclosing in this letter copies of the family history you would want from these papers from the copy machine at the public library – hope you can make them out. Am also sending copies to John and Stella, Cora, Verna, and Loraine at Big Lake. Cecile sold her house and bought a mobile home in Park Rapids last summer so she is living alone now. Cecile is going to be 65 this year sometime but still works at the hospital. I have to get up to Park Rapids real soon as I’ve Aunt Elise will to take care of and I am executor.
- Best Wishes to all of you and good health
Eric and Meta “
