IDA LORINE MYERS
Ida was born in Thor, Iowa on October 30, 1898, the daughter of John and Louise (Wickre) Hillesland. (see bottom of page for original names)
She was baptized and confirmed i the Lutheran faith and attended grade school at Thor, Iowa. Ida's mother died when she was twelve and she remained at home to help raise her younger brothers and sisters. Ida later continued her education at the Waldorf Academy in Forest City, Iowa. After graduation she worked as a domestic helper and summer Bible teacher.
ON September 3, 1939, Ida married H. Emron Myers at Thor, Iowa. After their marriage the myers lived in St. James, Minnesota and North Dakota, moving to the Alexandria area in 1941. Mrs. Myers was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Nelson, Minnesota.
Ida died on Monday, February 27, 1989 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home where she has been a resident since January of 1978. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Johne (Ardelle) Oare of Pine City, Minnesota and one sister, Bess Wicker of Tucson, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972, parents, one sister and four brothers.
Funeral service was held on Thursday March 2, 1989, 11:30 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Nelson, Minnesota, with Reverend Loren Spaulding officiating. The soloist was Barb Becker and the organist was Bev Steuck.
Pallbearers were Dennis HIllesland, Jon Hillesland, David Bruns, Roy Bilyeu, Carroll Hillesland, and Harold Haaland.
Interment was at Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Minnesota.
Services were directed by Petermeiers Alexandria Funeral Home.
