- Bio: Citizen NewspaperJune 26, 2002 Page 7Windom, Cottonwood County, MNOlav HEDMAN, 90, of Storden died June 19, 2002, at Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Lamberton.Services were held Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden with Rev. Alan Buresh officiating.Special music was provided by Gladys Herding, organist; and Elizabeth Johnson, vocalist.Casketbearers were Shawn Hedman, Brian Hedman, Tony Cariolano, Peter Meyer, Nathan Olson, and Todd Hedman.Honorary casketbearers were Olav's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.Interment was at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Storden.Anderson-Schmidt-LaCanne Funeral Home of Windom was in charge of the funeral arrangements.Olav Lewis HEDMAN was born July 22, 1911 to Lewis and Sophie (OLSON) HEDMAN in Storden Township of Cottonwood County. He was baptized and later confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church in rural Storden. He received his education in District 41 of rural Storden.In 1933, Olav married Grace LEE in Walnut Grove. They farmed in the Storden area for many years until retiring and moving into Storden in 1973.For many years, Olav and Grace were members of Old Westbrook Lutheran Church in rural Storden until moving into Storden and becoming members of Bethany Lutheran Church, where Olav served on the church council.He enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Minnesota Twins. He also enjoyed mom's cookies, visiting and his dogs.He was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn OSLAND, Mildred LOOBY and Martha MATTHEWS.Survivors include his wife, Grace HEDMAN of Storden; children, Patricia HEDMAN of Coon Rapids, Wallace (Colleen) HEDMAN of rural Westbrook, Stephan HEDMAN of New Hope, Diane (Marv) MEYER of Richfield and Mary Lynn (Richard) OLSON of Roseau; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Edna NELSON of Colorado and Eleanor SKJERVOLD of Columbia Heights.
