Hayne, the son of Winfield and Nellie (Cole) Hayne was born February 17, 1934 in Page, NE. The family moved to Sioux Falls when Richard was eight, and he graduated from Washington High School in 1954. In 1951, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.On September 1, 1955, Richard was united in marriage with Wanita Sylliaasen in Luverne, MN. He ran his own business as a Lather, retiring in 1991. Wanita died March 28, 2007.Richard was a member of First Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs, and the Lather's Union for over 45 years. He was very fond of traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.Grateful for having shared his life are his two daughters, Linda Jacobson and her husband Dan of Broken Bow, NE, Jeanne Angelo of Steen, MN; five grandchildren, Hillary Williams and her husband Jason of Merna, NE, Nick Jacobson of Broken Bow, NE, Alex, Cole, and Katie Angelo of Steen, MN; and one brother, Jim Hayne of Rockland, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, numerous siblings, and a baby daughter, Lisa Ann in 1962.The family has requested that memorials be directed to First Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School or the Union Gospel Mission, 701 E. 8th St., Sioux Falls, SD, 57103.
