- Bio: Ray was born June 1, 1907 while his parents, Martin Hanson and Laura Lokensgaard had a farm in Freeland Territory near Canby, MN. Ray graduated high school in Madison, MN as Salutatorian of his class. From 1927 to 1930, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, graduating in Engineering.
- He went to work as a Refrigeration Engineer for Swift and Company, being responsible for maintaining refrigeration in Swift plants in Aberdeen SD, Mason City IA, Sedalia MO and Muskogee OK. During WW II he was responsible for maintaining refrigeration in a nine state area. After being assigned to the main office in Chicago, he was involved in the development of the Swift and Company's "Butter Ball Turkey". He was often sent to manage refrigeration problems all over the USA as well as setting up refrigeration equipment in new Swift plants being built in Spain and England. He retired in 1972.
- Raymond married Beatrice Amelia Beiningen at Milbank, South Dakota on April 14, 1934. They had 2 daughters.
- Ray had a keen memory of incidents and anecdotes from his early days and a great interest in family history. He was also an avid stamp and coin collector. Ray and Betty were active members of a Lutheran church in every community in which they lived.
- Ray was laid to rest in Florida Lutheran Church cemetery near Canby, MN on land his grandfather, Matthias Hanson, had donated for the church.
