- Bio: Notice of Death and Obituary transcribed by Dena Gray-Fisher, source: Roland Record, December 10, 1964DAVID HANSON ONE OF TWO CRASH VICTIMSDavid A. Hanson, 20, died Sunday morning at the Mary Greeley Hospital at Ames from injuries suffered in a one car accident about midnight Friday. A Story City youth, Thomas Clark, 19, was instantly killed in the crash.Injured in the accident were Terry Ryan, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Ryan of Roland, and David Disbrowe, 21, of Story City, Terry Ryan is still unconscious at Mary Greeley Hospital and is listed in critical condition. Disbrowe was the least seriously hurt. Highway Patrolman Bill Severin said the car was westbound on the blacktop just east of the Story City park and football field. He said a wheel apparently dropped off the edge of the road, down the south embankment, and hit a large tree. The 1963 Pontiac sports coupe struck the tree broadside on its right side, wrapping itself completely around the tree with the front and right rear fenders touching each other. David Hanson, the only one of the four not knocked unconscious in the wreck, called for help. His cries were heard by Maynard Olson, who lives nearby and came to help. A few moments later Patrolman Severin happened on the scene and summoned wreckers to dislodge the car from the tree before the victims could be removed. Clark, who was killed instantly, was riding in the front seat beside Disbrowe who was driving. Hanson was riding in the rear seat on the right side which took the main impact, and Ryan was beside him. Clark was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Clark, former Story City residents who now live in Fremont, Nebr. Lyle Clark was formerly employed by the Ames In-Cross company here. Disbrowe is the son of Mrs. Ida Disbrowe of Story City.
