- Bio: Walter Halvorson, 75, of Vining died Feb. 12 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Vining Lutheran Church with Rev. Nancy Larson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born March 19, 1914 at Nidaros Township, the son of Iver and Oline (Holm) Halvorson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Vining Lutheran Church and received his formal education in School Dstrict 209. After his schooling he helped his father on the farm for many years. He also drove bulk truck and from 1962 to 1970 he worked for the Vining Creamery and in Battle Lake until his retirement in 1977.
On April 20, 1937 he married Myrtle Christianson in Henning. She died May 8, 1981.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Volden of Henning and Jane Weyrens of Vining, two sisters, Olga Moen of Fergus Falls and Ruby Uhren of Vining, two brothers, Selmer and Rudolph, both of Vining, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon on Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Belmont Funeral Home in Henning. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
