- Bio: Betty Ann Raff passed away peacefully at her San Bruno home on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the age of 71. She was the devoted and loving wife of David H. Raff for over 50 years.
- She is survived by her husband David; brother, Edgar O. Grund; sons: William, and Paul; daughters: Barbara A. Fears and Rose M. Gardner; sons-in-law: Thomas A. Fears, William Gardener and Bradley Schimek; and daughters-in-law Cathey Raff and Linda Ervin; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
- She was preceded in death by her parents William J and Eveline (Jacobson) Grund; brothers: Burt William Grund and Roger Myron Grund; and granddaughter Allyson Fern Raff.
- Betty was well known in the City of Bruno for her perseverance in affecting changes to protect children in the community. She was PTA President for many years, coordinator for all the San Bruno PTA'S and instrumental in starting the Block Parent Program. She attended many City Hall meetings demanding stop signs and traffic lights to provide safer routes for children walking to school. Betty was a member of the San Bruno Crime Prevention Committee and was the San Bruno Representative on the San Mateo County Crime Prevention Program of CAPTURE.
- Betty graduated in 1978 from CSM earning her A.A. and Registered Nursing degree. She worked in C.C.U. at Mills-Peninsula Hospital in San Mateo and later as the night P.C.C. (supervisor). Betty also spent 15 interesting years work as the Jail Nurse at the County Jail in Redwood City. Mrs. Raff had always considered herself a living miracle, surviving nearly a lifetime of heart problems.
- Her faith in God was unshakeable and she committed her life to the service of God, the community and the less fortunate. She taught Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, Vacation Bible School and Stephens Ministries. Betty contributed her time and talents to every church she attended and most recently had been active at Hope Lutheran Church in Daly City.
