- Bio: Clayton Farmen, 65, of Groton died May 27, 2003 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen. Funeral services are 2:00pm on Thursday, May 29th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Groton. Rev. Stephen D. Swenson will officiate. Burial will follow in Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton. Military Rites provided by Groton American Legion Post #39.
- Clayton Maurice Farmen was born on July 19, 1937 to Arthur Maurice and Clara Regina (Hanson) Farmen in Webster, SD. He was baptized in Roslyn. Clayton attended and graduated form Roslyn High School. He joined the National Guard and was active for 10 years. On June 19, 1960, he married Martha Mortenson in Pierpont. Clayton worked as a meat cutter for several stores before opening his own business in 1981. He retired in January of 2002. He was currently employed at Ken's Super Fair Foods in Groton.
- Clayton was a member of the Groton Kiwanis Club, Feather and Fin and American Legion Post #39, where he served as co-commander. He enjoyed fishing, golf bowling, card playing and umpiring. He was a National Senior Champion for bowling in 2001.
- Grateful for having shared his life is his wife, Martha and children; Clayton "Butch" Farmen of Groton, LeRoy Farmen of Mobridge, Lola (Larry) Bartels of Clark and Lily (James) Werner of Rockham, four brothers; Errol (Beverly) Farmen of Groton, Calvin Farmen of Groton, David (Julie) Farmen of Aberdeen, Keith Farmen of Redfield, two sisters; Judy Schaunaman of Roslyn, Maurine Holler of Aberdeen, and three granddaughters; Amanda and Malory Bartels and Jamie Werner.
- Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Alice Morehouse.
- Honorary Casketbearers will be all of Clayton's Friends and Family.
- Casketbearers will be Shawn Wik, Heath Farmen, Dale Farmen, Tom Farmen, Mike Mortenson, Jim Mortenson, Robert Schaunaman, Glen Schaunaman.
