    • Bio: Claude Elmo Ellingson, 74 of Clifton died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home in Clifton, Texas. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton, the Pastor Glenn Kramer officiating. A Masonic service was performed at the graveside. Interment was in Trinity Cemetery. Ellingson was born on Jan. 15, 1931, at Norse to Karl “Charlie” Eugene and Julia Betsy (Amundson) Ellingson. He was baptized on Feb. 8, 1931, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Norse, and confirmed in the faith on July 1, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1948 and from Clifton College in 1950. He served his country in the Texas National Guard as a cook. On Jan. 9, 1953, he married Sarah Janet Leatherwood in Crosby, Texas. They made their home in the Galena Park and Pasadena area where Claude worked for the Eastern States Oil Company. In 1964 the family moved to Fort Worth where Claude worked as a builder with his brother, Isaac, in Fort Worth. Later, he worked building houses for Korenek Builders in the Ridgemar and Ridglea Country Club Estates areas. In 1984 they returned to Clifton and operated the Womack General Store in Womack for three years before working for Nichols LP Gas and the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. Ellingson was active in the Masonic Lodge and a past Master, and he was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed woodworking, making such things as the Norwegian ship and Santa’s sleigh with his friend W. F Lovell, building furniture, cooking, providing those wonderful breakfasts with the Masons during public school week and barbecue sandwiches at the Freedom Fest, fishing, hunting, and making fishing flies. He spent many hours watching his grandchildren participate in athletics and playing with his dog “Sugar.” His classmates remember him as “Fireball” and that he was. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Bernt, Allen, Lee, Isaac, Clarence, and Tilden (Tick) Ellingson; and two sisters, Pearl Collins and Ada Ellingson. Survivors include his wife, Janet; three daughters, Sheila Musselman and husband, Larry, of Clifton; Gena Vee John and husband, Preston, of Crystal River, Florida, and Claudette Wisdom and husband, Kent, of Benbrook, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Julie New and husband, Jason, of Dallas, Sarah Musselman of College Station, Ashley John of Crystal River, Florida, Tanner Wisdom of Benbrook, Texas, and Melissa (John) McGinty and Holly (John) Hart of Littleton, Colorado, and Laura (John) Filaroski, of Franklin, Tennessee; one sister, Ruby Conrad and husband, Clarence, of Clifton; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends. Pallbearers were Ralph Collins, George Collins, Charles Conrad, Lonnie Leatherwood, Darrell Leatherwood, and Paul Dietiker. Honorary pallbearers were Don Ellingson and Lee Allen Ellingson. Memorials can be given to the following: Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, and Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Drive, Suite 5, Waco, Texas 76710. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
