- Bio: Bertha Marie Wallace Files, 85, died Monday, November 13, 2006, in Arlington. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Clifton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Norse. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery Cemetery.
- Bertha Marie was born in Norse, Texas, to the late Egert Andrew Ellingson and Inga Tomina (Pederson) Ellingson. She attended Meridian Creek School and graduated from Clifton Junior College in May of 1940. On Aug. 7, 1943, she married Cecil Clinton Wallace in Gatesville and the couple had three children. On Oct. 31, 1993, she married Wiley Files in Clifton.
- Bertha resided in the Norse community from 1921 to 1943, in Dallas area from 1946 to 1973, Clifton from 1973 to 1993, College Station from 1993 to 1999, Spring from 2000 to 2005, and Arlington from 2005 to the time of her death. Over the years, she worked as a housewife, a private kindergarten teacher, and a Sears credit officer. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Norse, and served as a member of a Methodist congregation and Immanuel United Church of Christ in Spring.
- She enjoyed playing bridge and games, sewing, reading, crocheting, crafts, and the Dallas Cowboy's football. She often said that being a wife, mother, and grandmother to five lovely granddaughters is the greatest accomplishment a woman can have.
- She was preceded in death by husbands, Cecil C. Wallace and Wiley Files.
- Survivors include sons, Jan Wallace, of Arlington and Mike Wallace and wife, Cindi, of Presque Isle, Maine; daughter, Jody and husband, Frank, of Houston; granddaughters: Elizabeth Wallace, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Rebecca Avocha, of Spring, Texas, Amanda Wallace, of Castle Rock, Colo., Jessica Osborne, of Olympia, Wash., and Caitlin Wallace, of Wakefield, R.I.; and great-granddaughter, Mira Osborne, of Olympia, Wash.
