- Penny L. (Dues) Larson, 53, of 2003 1st Ave. N., a former daycare provider, died of cancer Friday at Peace Hospice.
Her funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel, with burial in Manchester Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Larson of Great Falls; a daughter, Heather (Jim) Spurzem of Ulm and their two children, Lane and Savannah; her mother, Alice Kline of Great Falls; brothers Gary Dues of Great Falls, Rick Dues and Cory Dues, both of Maine, Randy Dues of Kansas and Marty Dues of Nevada; and a sister, Kandy Sonsteng of Great Falls.
Penny was born Nov. 8, 1954, in Sonora, Calif., to Alice Margaret (Bradley) and Donald William Dues. The family later moved to Butte, where Penny attended Butte High School. She worked in the Hunts cannery in Oakdale, Calif., before moving to Great Falls. Penny worked as a receptionist for Great Falls Paper, Montana Merchandising and Crop Growers Insurance, before starting her own business, Penny's Day Care, at her home.
She married Larry Larson in Great Falls in 1986.
Penny was the president of Great Falls Day Care Association and headed the Children's Activity Fair at the fairgrounds.
Her hobbies included crocheting and sewing, and Penny was involved in many craft shows. Her greatest love was children, especially her grandchildren. She was also a foster parent.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jonathan Kern Pitman and her father, Donald Dues.
