  Bio: STANHOPE-Irene Whalen, 90, of Stanhope, died of a massive heart attack early Monday at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Church in Stanhope with the Rev. Richard Morris officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation is at the Foster Funeral home until 8 a.m. Wednesday. Survivors include her husband Edgar, Stanhope; son, Ralph, Stanhope; daughter, Roberta Teig, Webster City; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clair Davis, Diamond, Mo. Iva Irene Davis was born in Hamilton Township. She attended rural schools north and east of Stanhope and graduated from Stanhope High School.She married Edgar Whalen in 1919 at Stanhope. The couple farmed southeast of Stanhope until 1947 when they moved to a farm north of Stanhope. They moved into Stanhope in 1955. She was a member of the Christian Church Women's Fellowship and Royal Neighbors.
