- Louis G. “Louie” Cutshall, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Western Home Communities-Martin Center.
- Louie was born October 13, 1923, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Charles and Lillian Gunstead Cutshall. He married Joyce Gustafson November 15, 1952, in Minneapolis, MN.
- He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1941 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree in business. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on a LST during the Normandy Invasion and in the Pacific Ocean. He worked as an Engineer with the Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement in 1984.
- Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Cathie (Greg Dietz) Schaefer and Christi (Gary) Shoemaker, both of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Mackenzie Schaefer and Hannah Shoemaker, both of Waterloo; and great granddaughter, Piper.
- Preceded by two sisters, Beryl Berntsen and Florence Moser and two brothers, Bob and Paul Cutshall.
- Services 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with inurnment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls.
