- Bio: Rosella M. “Rosie” (Mrs. Alfred) Glaser, 81, of Kearney, formerly of Spalding, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.
- A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding, with the Revs. Antony Thekkekara and James Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery at Spalding.
- Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a wake service at 7.
- Rosella Marie Glaser, daughter of Floyd and Wilma (Smith) Crosby, was born Sept. 1, 1936, at Spalding. She lived with her family on various farms and attended rural schools before graduating from Spalding High School. The following school year, she taught at a rural school in the Akron area.
- On Nov. 29, 1958, Rosie married Alfred C. Glaser at St. John’s Catholic Church in Omaha. The couple made their home on a farm near Spalding. Rosie was a homemaker, raising their five sons: Greg, Jerry, Kenny, Larry and Allen. She was also involved in the Spalding community and St. Michael’s Church. They remained in the Spalding area until moving to Kearney in 2006. Rosie and Alf co-founded Nebraska Coins and Collectables in Kearney and she enjoyed spending her time working there.
- Rosie had many hobbies, including sewing, speed reading, bowling, handwriting analysis and calligraphy. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family, whether that was fishing with her boys or sharing her wonderful cooking talents and hosting family holidays. Reading the Bible was also important to her and she enjoyed participating in Bible studies. She and Alf had a strong prayer life and they took time out to spend at marriage encounters. Rosie had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
- She is survived by five sons, Greg Glaser of Riverdale, Jerry (Vickie) Glaser of Seward, Kenny (Stacy) Glaser of Shelton, Larry (Angie) Glaser of LaVista andAllen (Tammie) Glaser of Kearney; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Marge Hall of Texas, Bonnie Roth of Arkansas, Shirley (Milton) Fields of Logan, Iowa, Carmen Crosby of Omaha and Veronica (Tom) Peterson of Goddard, Kan.; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
- Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Wilma; husband, Alfred; a sister, Barb Sachtjen; and twin siblings in infancy.
