- Bio: Patricia Lindgren, 85 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the Sanford Medical Center with family at her side.Patricia E. Cook, daughter of Norman and Ethel (Traversie) Cook, was born on March 7, 1927, in Brookings, SD. She graduated from high school in Chamberlain and then attended business school in Mitchell, SD.Patricia was united in marriage with Vern Lindgren on May 27, 1947, in Mitchell, SD. Patricia remained at home to raise a family while Vern began a career with Physicians Mutual Insurance. The couple moved briefly to Minneapolis, MN, and then to Aberdeen, SD. They later were briefly in Lake Oswego, OR, before ending up in Sioux Falls, SD, in the early seventies. After retirement, the couple would winter in Donna, TX, and spend time with their family at Roy Lake.Vern passed away on February 4, 2007.Patricia enjoyed crocheting, reading, and considered herself a cruciverbalist at crossword puzzles. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Sioux Falls Quilters Guild. Patricia was known for being outspoken but enjoyed conversing with anyone she met.Grateful for having shared her life are her children Valerie Daschel and her husband Ed, Aberdeen, SD, Susan Mott and Pat Berk, Fairview, NC, Jeffrey Lindgren and Howard Buford, New York City, NY, Joel Lindgren, Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy Hurley and her husband Michael, Sioux Falls, SD, Rosemary Lindgren, Rapid City, SD; brothers Julius Cook, Brattleboro, VT, Leonard Cook, Glad Valley, SD; sisters Nina Hicks, Sioux Falls, SD, Sharon Trudell, Aurora, CO, Donna Auger, FL; 10 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Vern, her parents, two brothers Melvin and Tony, and a sister Marlys Gray.Patricia and family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Dow Rummel for their exceptional care and friendship.Visitation will begin at 8 am with the family present from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Halladay Peterson Chapel at Dow Rummel Village with interment at Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
