- Bio: Mildred G. Payne, age 92, of Washburn, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo.
- She was born February 4, 1923 in Spring Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur and Charlotte Larson Christopherson.
- Mildred was united in marriage with Doyle Payne on June 14, 1942 in Spring Valley. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1980.
- Mildred was a cook at Bishop’s Cafeteria in Waterloo for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Washburn.
- Mildred was a talented cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
- Survivors include 2 sons, Arthur (Lynn) Payne of New Albany, IN, and Charles (Vinnie) Payne of Waterloo; 5 daughters, Charlene Frederiksen of Waterloo, Becky Payne of Brooklyn, IA, Tina Payne of Pevely, MO, Sherry Payne of Washburn, IA and Kim Gardner (Rob Bruns) of Waterloo, IA; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Roy (Jan) Christopherson of Spring Valley, MN and Lester (JoAnn) Christopherson of Rochester, MN and 2 sisters, Helen Stier and Shirley (Norm) Bergman, all of Grand Meadow, MN.
- She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; twin sons and a daughter in infancy; a great grandson, Taylor; a brother, Dennis Christopherson and a brother-in-law, Jerry Stier.
- Services 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Avenue in Waterloo, Cemetery
burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
