- LaVerne Myrle Christianson was born to Otto and Anna (Skogerboe) Christianson in Faribault County, near Blue Earth, MN on March 5, 1926. He graduated from Blue Earth High School. LaVerne served in the United States Navy during WW II as a Torpedoman's Mate on the USS Gearing. Following his honorable discharge he continued his education at Mankato State University, and following his graduation he began working at Hiebert Greenhouses in Mountain Lake, MN.
- On June 12, 1951 LaVerne was united in marriage to Marjorie Anne Christianson at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. The couple made their home in Mountain Lake and was blessed with two children, Paul and Karen. Following his retirement from the Greenhouse he spent much of his time in the Florida Keys and on his boat on Lake Superior. LaVerne was a life member of the American Legion, and he was a member of Rotary International for over 25 years with perfect attendance.
- Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Irene Johnson; and two brothers, Orlo and C.J. Christianson. LaVerne is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Christianson of Mountain Lake; a son, Paul Christianson of Mountain Lake; a daughter, Karen (Paul) Leverson of Mountain Iron, MI; five grandchildren, Brianna, Connor, Keenan, Gannon and Aunnah Leverson; two sisters, Janice Barker of FL and Esther Espluand of IL; many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Kathy Swan and Judy Christianson; brother and sister-in-law, Gay and Jeanne Hiebert of SD; family friend, Helen Rempel; many other relatives and friends.
