    • OLE CHRISTIAN DIED SATURDAY
Pioneer Citizen of Milford Township Passes Away at his Home in Roland - Leaves Large Family to Mourn His Death.
      -----
On Saturday evening occurred the death of Ole Christian (Storvig) at his home in the west part of town from a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Christian had during the past year or so not felt very well and last fall had a stroke of apoplexy, but recovered so much as to be able to be around again for several weeks until about ten days ago, when he had a second stroke, which was the immediate cause of his death.
Ole Christian was born in Skaanevig's Prestegjeld, Norway, Europe, on December 1, 1842, and was 67 years, 3 months, and 18 days old and in 1847 came with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Christen Christian, to Kendall county, Ill. On March 28, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Jorinn Twedt, who with their ten children are left to mourn his death. They are Cass O. Christian, of Frost, Minn.; Tom O. Christian, of Willmar, Minn.; John M. Christian, of Richland township; Albert Christian, of Roland; Chas. E. Christian, of Warren township; Henry O. Christian, of Milford township; Mrs. E. O. Munson, of Roland; Mrs. E. B. Erickson of Roland; O. B. Christian of Milford township; Mrs. Jane Erickson, of Roland. All the children were present at his death bed with the exception of C. O. Christian, who returned home the previous evening on account of the illness of one of his sons. Besides the children, he also leaves 41 grandchildren, and one brother, Chas. Christian, of this place.
In 1879 Mrs. and Mrs. Christian moved from Illinois to Story county when they purchased a residence in Roland and moved here. Mr. Christian was one of the leading farmers of Milford township, and always attended to his own business and by his industry accumulated cosiderable property, which he invested in land in Story County.
The funeral was held from Bergen church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. Smedal officiating, a large number of friends and relatives being present to pay their last respects to their friend and neighbor. The remains were then interred in the Roland cemetery. The sorrowing family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in the hour of their bereavement.
