- Bio: Helen Elizabeth (Chappell) Godshall, of Lansdale, passed away Oct. 14, 2013 at Elm Terrace Gardens. She was 81.
- She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence I. Godshall, Jr., who passed away in 2002.
- Born Oct. 25, 1931 in Philadelphia, Helen was the daughter of the late William and Helena E. (Larsen) Chappell.
- Helen spent most of her life as a resident of the Souderton and Lansdale area, graduating from Souderton High School with the class of 1950. She went on to attend the Lansdale School of Business and was employed as a secretary with the North Penn Water Authority, where she met and later married her husband with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
- Helen would later work as a home health aide and as executive secretary for Elm Terrace Gardens. Along with her husband, she retired to Edgewater, Fla. in 1991, moving back to Lansdale following Clarence's death.
- A life-long member of First Baptist Church in Lansdale, she was a member of the choir, women's ministries, a girl scout leader and also started the Senior Saints. While in Florida, she began a newsletter for the development where she lived and no matter where Helen went, if she saw a need for something she would do anything to fill it.
- Helen enjoyed camping trips with her family, playing pinochle with her card club and traveling, both domestically and abroad.
- Surviving are her daughters, Karin E. Wheelin of Quakertown, and Linda J. Trout of Lansdale; her sons, Douglas T. and his wife, Heidi, of Lansdale, and Kevin E. of Hatfield; and her grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, Elissa, Andrew, Rande, Jessica, Elena and Jacqueline.
- In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Alan Godshall and her brother, William D. Chappell.
- Services First Baptist Church, Lansdale. Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler. Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home.
