- E. H. Buland Dies, Rites Held Tuesday
Ellis Howard Buland, 624 2nd Ave. N. W. a resident of Waseca for the past 25 years, died suddenly Sunday of a coronary attack. He was 64 years old. A partner in the Modern Plumbing and Hearing Co., with Bennie Priebe, he was repairing a furnace at the Leuthold residence at the time of his death.
Last rites were held Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Methodist church at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Burton Passer officiating. A family service was held earlier at the Peterson Chapel. Burial was at Woodville cemetery; graveside services there were conducted by the members of the I.O.O.F., of which Mr. Buland was a Past Noble Grand. Casket bearers were E. C. Spalding, Marvin Weber, Ward Fogarty, R. B. Roesler, Kennard Kanne and George Wobschall.
Mr. Buland was born in Pantise, Ill., December 30, 1893, the son of the late Lewis and Ellen Buland. On June 14, 1918, he was married to Ethel Johnson of Forest city, Iowa. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Lloyd, Fairmont; Berton, Mankato; and Maynard, Waseca; one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Mavis) Shurson, New Richland; eight grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Joseph Buland, Brownsdale; Lester Buland, Forest city, Iowa; and Mrs. James (Irene) Kay, Lake Mills, Iowa. His mother passed away October 16 of this year.
A member of the Methodist church, the deceased has served on the Official Board, the Committee of Finance, the Building Committee, and he was treasurer of the Men’s club. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., and of the Lions club.
People came to attend the funeral services from Clear Lake, Mason city, Roland, Radcliff, Ellsworth, lake Mills, and Forest City, Iowa; and Plainview, Wells, Mankato, Fairmont and New Richland, Minn.
