    • Bio: HUTCHINSON — Susan "Sue" M. Mortenson, 60, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday in Atwater.
    • The service is at 11 a.m. today at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.

    • Susan "Sue" Mary Mortenson was born on Oct. 23, 1950, in Granite Falls. She was the daughter of Irv and Rita (Kopel) Brown. Sue was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. She received her education in Olivia and was a graduate of the Olivia High School Class of 1968. Sue was Miss Olivia in 1968.
    • In 1971, Sue was united in marriage to Gary Prodoehl in Olivia. This marriage was blessed with two children, Brenda and Amy. They shared 12 years of marriage until Gary passed away on May 15, 1983.
    • On Sept. 4, 1987, Sue was united in marriage to Bruce Mortenson in Olivia. They resided in Olivia and later moved to Hutchinson in 1989. They shared 23 years of marriage.
    • Sue was employed with the Olivia Chamber of Commerce, Page Snyder Drug Store and also waitressed at the The Sheep Shedde in Olivia. In 1989, Sue helped and managed the opening of the Kraft Walser Law Office in Hutchinson. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hutchinson. She was a member of the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce and Hutchinson Ambassadors; Sue was the first female to join the Hutchinson Ambassadors. She was involved in the Hutchinson Card Club and Birthday Club.
    • Sue enjoyed golfing and was an avid Vikings fan. While recuperating from her aneurysm in 2002, Sue enjoyed working with her classmates on their most recent class reunion. She especially cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
    • Sue is survived by her husband, Bruce Mortenson of Hutchinson; daughters, Brenda James (and Corey) of Annandale and Amy TenEyck (and Justin) of Winthrop; grandchildren, Emily James, Haley James, Skyler James, Nicholas TenEyck, Nathaniel TenEyck; brothers, James Brown (and Bardette) of Willmar, John Brown (and Amy) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sisters, Linda Haney (and Gerry) of Olivia, and Carol Vogt (and Rick) of Olivia; and many other relatives and friends.
    • Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Irv and Rita Brown; first husband, Gary Prodoehl; and sister, Diane Brown.
